Some of you on my general, meditation, and massage therapist mailing lists have asked me, “Hey, Cary, what’s with these emails about humor and comedy publications?”
The answer is really a simple one: not only am I interested in teaching people to gain higher consciousness through meditation and life coaching. I’m also interested in helping people create lighter hearts with humor. At left are some of those literary efforts.
In my 20s I began teaching meditation and also writing humor professionally for the National Lampoon and Playboy, creating humor books, working on national parodies of the Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone, writing jokes for radio disc jockeys, and serving as a screenwriter on a motion picture comedy that got prodeuced.
I call these two passions the cosmic and the comic. And now that I’m no longer in my 20s, I’m writing a lot about the integration of these two realities, cosmic and comic. Exploring such matters as the laughing Buddha; the Vedic concept of Lila (Cosmic Play); and divine comedy.
So in that vein, here are some of my humor writing to brighten your day. As they say, “Laughter is the best medicine.” They make great gifts for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, and for You Day.
